Erynn Pierce

Yoga Instructor, RYT 200

Erynn came to yoga at a very early age. As a child she remembers sitting in lotus a lot and trying to “teach” her friends to get into the pose. She lived as a child in both the Pacific Northwest and in Micronesia, slipping over mossy logs and swimming with turtles. Erynn is a recent transplant to Tacoma from two years in Chicago, and sixteen in San Diego, CA. A lifelong adventurer and lover of nature, she holds a degree in biology and loves to run, dance, savor wine, cook, and do spontaneous handstands throughout the day. She is a mother of two, Shelby and Lucian, her two greatest teachers. After seven years as a dedicated yoga practitioner, Erynn received her 200 Hour certification in 2009 at YogaNow in Albuquerque New Mexico, with a special emphasis in Ayurveda, Anusara yoga, and tantric philosophy. Since then she has amassed over 3,000 hours teaching yoga across the U.S. A self-confessed yoga “mutt”, she has practiced (and taught) many diverse styles of yoga from to Ashtanga Vinyasa to Yin. It is her belief that yoga asana can both comfort and challenge us at just the right moments, and that being open to both is key. Her teaching style is descriptive, compassionate and playful; she strives to guide each student to a more open heart, greater balance of ease and effort, and to leave the mat and re-enter the world with a deeper sense of gratitude. She gives thanks to all of her teachers, including: Anne Nowell, Dana Rae Pare, Jeannie Carlstead, Michael Fukumura, Erich Schiffmann, Kyra Ryder, Ravi Ravindra, Ram Dass.
