Ayurveda: The Art of Living Well

Led by mother-daughter team Amita Desai and Sona Desai Buchanan, this workshop will re-focus one’s attention on living within the rhythm of nature that allows for optimal health. Participants will receive an introduction to yoga’s sister science, Ayurveda, and learn how this 5,000 year old science is increasingly relevant as one of the world’s most sophisticated and powerful mind-body health systems available. We will share with you the guiding principles of Ayurveda, the pillars of well-being, and the single ticket to longevity. You will learn about the 5-element and 3-dosha systems of Ayurveda and discover how to adapt your lifestyle to the environment, season, time of life, times of day and night, and more. We will give you tools to determine your personal doshic constitution and show you indicators to help you assess your current balances and imbalances, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. In addition, you will learn how to adopt dinacharya, a daily routine of self-care that includes both universal and dosha-specific practices for creating healthy habits. Finally, we will discuss how to establish a sadhana practice, the cornerstone for a successful spiritual path. Please bring a notebook/journal and pen!
